Many intellectuals assume that, in order to understand today’s weird politics, one must always know who is making or losing money and why. But, as Ernst Bloch once said, people do not live on bread alone – especially when they do not have it.” So even a demand for bread is effectively a demand for dignity of which we are deprived in hunger. The old Clinton's motto "It's economy stupid" should be replaced by "It's dignity stupid". Recognition and dignity is not only an implicit demand in Right-wing populist movements, is the key demand of today's Leftist protests around the world.
