Hegel and illusion of time

Document Type : مقاله مروری

Abstract
According to common reading of Hegel's philosophy, which has been so deeply influenced by the dominance of leftist account, dialectic is a process that enfolds in time. But the acceptance of this viewpoint encounters us with many problems in reconciliation of temporal and logical aspects of dialectic. The origin of this misunderstanding is interpretation of Hegel's conception of time as a vulgar one, i.e. endless succession of temporal moments. We shouldn't be deceived by temporal-teleological implications of Hegel’s thought and neglect his hostility to time. What he intends from history is an eternal circular manifestation of the absolute Idea. The aim of this work is to advocate the priority of logic to history and revision of historicity of dialectic based on the idea of temporal and logical completeness. Hegel’s notion of Tilgung (annulment) of time leads us to a conclusion that overall structure of his philosophy does not have a temporal characteristic.
