مسئولیت فلسفه در بحران فرهنگ اروپایی از دیدگاه هوسرل

Husserl, throughout his life, was concerned with the defense of rationality and its proper understanding. In his last work, Science is considered as the most visible manifestation of rationality in modern age, an age caught in crisis; therefore, the crisis of science indicates that the rationality has deviated from its own proper route. Husserl diagnosed in view of the crisis of modern sciences, the crisis of philosophy as an original and profound crisis and finally he emphasized on the vital role of philosophy in western culture. The rise of the idea of reason in the philosophy of Greek antiquity forms the source of European culture but loss of faith in this idea in modern age has caused the alienation of western man and the crisis of European culture. Husserl found the mission of phenomenology by returning to the idea of universal philosophy to revive faith in reason and the meaning of human life. Accordingly, he called philosophers as the functionaries of mankind who must be aware of their position within the historical context in order to undertake their duty und responsibility. This article intends, based on Husserl’s last work, concerns to the vital role of philosophy in western culture and its responsibility in the time of crisis
